Advice....

So, hubby's R&R is coming up VERY soon and as this is our first deployment, this will be our first R&R. So my question is...What are some things that you guys do on your spouse's R&R. I want it to be a relaxing time for us, but I also want us to do as much as we can while he's home. He has told me he's game for anything, but does want the time to relax as well. I'm not normally the planner type, but for some reason as this is coming up I feel like I have to plan everything out. I'd rather just go with the flow & that's what we will probably do. But, the other dilemma I have is during this deployment I have moved back home, so when he comes home we want to be able to have the privacy we need. So, I have reserved a place for a couple of nights when he first gets home. But, if it were me I would reserve somewhere for 2 whole weeks, lol. His mom has told us we can stay with her, where we would be on the complete opposite end of the house w/ our own space (being that it's just her there), and I'm sure we will stay there some too. Maybe, I'm worrying too much about this...I just want it to be as special as it can be for us. Being that it's been months since we've seen each other!!!! And as much as I want him all to myself, I know I have to share...I just wish we could have booked a 15 day trip on some exotic island just the 2 of us:)

All the advice is greatly accepted:)

I don't have any advice since we haven't had R&R yet, but I'm so excited for you!

Wellll we had a baby so its slightly different haha but I was totally in the same situation with the privacy thing. I live with my husbands family so I was worried about having my own space but his family were co-operative and when they were around too much we would just go out on dates to get away. One thing I learnt is do not stress, its only 15 days and it will fly by so enjoy every second and remember that one day in the future you wont have to share him anymore so just put up with it and go with the flow for now. I hope you guys have an amazing time, I cant wait to see photos. Definitely make time for relaxing too though : )

So exciting that R&R is just around the corner. A was just home for his. Since we aren't married, he actually flew home (to his parents and sister) and I had driven there the day before. Therefore, we obviously had the situation of family being around. However, we did get away one two different occasions. Once for 4 days and the second time just over night. I would recommend doing something to get away. As Expat Girl said, don't stress about details. It's not worth it. The time really does fly by and you just want to enjoy every second you have with him. Be sure to take it all in and capture every moment possible. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time! If there is something specific that you both enjoy I'd recommend doing that, otherwise just go with it and do what you feel like at the time.

Stay with his mom... a lot... that way you are killing two birds with one stone. She gets to have her son home and you guys get your privacy. Then you are free to run and play without having to figure out how to find time to work her visits in. That sounds mean, doesn't it? But living away, I know how difficult it is to please everyone with visits. LOL
