R&R

R&R was a blast. Me & hubby had such a wonderful time. Even though right to start with, nothing went as planned. Hubby had called me on Wed. saying he may be leaving out Thurs. am then of course that didn't happen, so then the plan was to leave Fri. am. Well, that didn't happen either, instead he left Fri. night, had a few delays & finally made some progress on Sat. Late Saturday night I received an email from hubby saying he was in Germany & should be in Atlanta by 9am on Sun. morning. So, Sunday morning came & I got dressed, the car packed, & hoping to make it to the hotel where we would be staying right near check in to decorate our room w/ a welcome home sign & banner. We were staying in a Jacuzzi suite so I wanted to go ahead and set the candles out & have some snacks waiting for us & all that jazz. But, at 12:30pm I got a phone call saying "Hey Babe, I'm in Charlotte. I fly out in just a few minutes, so start getting ready to head to the airport. Ok, love you. I gotta go." WHAT?!?!?! I was excited, but I hated I couldn't have everything ready. (Check in wasn't until 3pm) But, some things never go as planned. And, looking back I'm glad they didn't. Hubby later told me, he wasn't supposed to arrive home until 9pm that night but, luckily worked some of his magic & got the earlier flight. And that was a great plus being his time didn't start until midnight that night. So, I got to the airport - parked just as the plane was coming in to land. Crazy I know!!! I ran into the airport stopped by the bathroom to make sure I looked ok lol. Went to wait for just a few seconds...and there he was:) I was all smiles and so was he. It was such a wonderful moment to have him walk through those doors and wrap me in his arms & greet me with a kiss. So, we left the airport, went to visit his family for a few minutes & then we went straight to the hotel. One word: magical!!!!

Needless to say, hubby was extremely tired & I tried to give him as much rest as he needed. But, sometimes - I just had to wake him up lol!!!
After the first couple days, we loaded up and headed to Wilmington and spent a wonderful 4 days there. We went to the beach and poor hubby's fresh meat got a little more burnt than he had anticipated. But, it was such a beautiful day & we enjoyed it to the fullest.

We spent a day in downtown Wilmington where we shopped & walked the water front, ate at a delicious restaurant called "Elijah's", & went to the park. It felt so nice just be in my hubby's company all day and all night.

Then we came back home, so hubby could reunite with Charlie. It was hilarious. We went to my parents house & hubby walked in on Charlie laying on my bed & Charlie started pretty much wailing like he was being beat. (I think he was scared lol, so much for being a watch dog haha) Then hubby started just making the world over him & he knew who he was right away. These past few weeks, you could really tell Charlie missed hubby just as much as I did!
We also were able to celebrate July 4th while hubby was home. We had a big cookout with hubby's family & a few friends. It was such a nice day. I'm so glad we were able to celebrate at least one holiday while he was home. (He arrived home the day after his birthday, but we still celebrated that too:) )
We had plenty of time together & alot of date nights which were much needed. I had the time of my life while hubby was home. And, I'm pretty sure that's why it has been so hard since he left. I cherished R&R don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have traded it for anything. But, in a way its somewhat of a torture. Just when things get back to normal, the way they were supposed to be - he's packing up to leave again. But, we are in the short rows now & praying that this deployment will be shorter than we imagined. (Rumors are flying still) I'm trying to get back into my routine, hoping that will make things better & time start moving again. I can't wait for him to be back home for good!!!!

Your photos are adorable! Im glad you guys had a great R&R, Iknow routine is hard to find after that second goodbye but you will get there. One thing I will say though is dont cling to the rumours! p.s. my husband used to be a waiter at Elijahs when he went back to Wilmington for Summers during his college days!

I almost teared up when I read the part about Charlie wailing... my poor baby.... I'm glad it didn't take him long to remember who Matt was! :o) Love you!!!!
