Yes, it was to...Hey thanks for replying back to me!
Yes, it was tough with the deployment news so soon & with him being in the reserves we did push the thought in the back of our minds. But, sometimes things happen for a reason (or so we like to tell ourselves). I am trying to prepare myself mentally & emotionally; I think I have done good so far! He comes home from training next weekend & will be home for Christmas & then leave again at the beginning of the year for real this time. I know it is going to be a hard & very emotional time, but I am expecting it. I have not been to a family/spouse briefing. They actually did have one back in October for his unit, but we were out of town & missed it. And I do not have contact with any of the other wives/girlfriends of my husband's fellow soldiers. Being a reserve unit, it is hard to meet them & get to know some of them. There is an older soldier who is married & has kids that will be leaving with my husband & he has mentioned he would like for his wife & myself to meet, but we just have not accomplished that yet. But, I'm sure that would help out alot!!!

We live in Eastern North Carolina & yes I have family all around as well as his. So, that will make it a little better too. But, then my family really can't relate to what I will be going through. Of course they will be there for me, but it's different when you have someone who's in the same situation as you.

Thank you again for your advice.Field of Dreamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03128670257954966775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6122192546507298058.post-38794036939309506582009-12-08T18:21:40.385-08:002009-12-08T18:21:40.385-08:00Thanks for commenting on my blog! I'm so sorry...Thanks for commenting on my blog! I'm so sorry that your husband is leaving so soon and so unexpectedly. At least with my husband I was prepared, knowing that deployment was inevitable. With your husband in the reserves, I can't imagine how disappointing it would be to find out that he would be activated and deployed.

Have you attended any pre-deployment briefs for spouses? Do you have any friends in your husband's unit? If you can try to connect with those women it may help you cope with your husband leaving.

My experience is that the time leading up to the deployment was so hard and stressful and painful, and it didn't get better until after the first week. If you can just prepare yourself for things to be tough until after he leaves. Matt and I had many moments of frustration with each other, sometimes small fights and sometimes just snapping at eachother for no reason. It was helpful to remember that it was the stress of the deployment and not a lack of love or unification on our part.

If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know. Where do you guys live? Are you close to friends and family?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02032610706061377834noreply@blogger.com
